Experience an ‘otterly’ exciting opportunity right here in ATHOL, IDAHO! (Not affiliated with Big Red’s Barn)
Come enjoy an up-close and personal encounter with “Charlie’s Angels”, our three Asian small-clawed otters! All of our otter experiences are in the “great outdoors” (our outdoor otter enclosure with pool and gazebo!), UNLESS there is inclement weather, in which case we will move it INDOORS at our discretion. Help our awesome “Otter Nanny” (trainer) entertain and engage with our Angels.
You will have the opportunity to spend 30 minutes making lifetime memories with the Angels, and learning everything you ever wanted to know about Asian Small Clawed Otters from our Otter Nanny. Guests are encouraged to ask questions and learn more about our otters whilst participating in their playtime. It’s a whole ‘lotter’ fun!
NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK!
- Guests for our Otter Encounter must be 10 years and over. Sorry, our insurance dictates this and there are no exceptions.
- Persons under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a paying adult
- Minimum of TWO and maximum of four people per encounter
- Guests must be fit and healthy, have full motor skill and intellectual capabilities.
- We sincerely apologize, but guests with wheelchairs or walking aids are not permitted on the encounter. The outdoor area is rocky and bumpy and does not safely permit this.
- Please note only paying participants will be able to attend this encounter.
- Everyone who drives ONTO the premises must be a paying participant. NO sitting/waiting in cars or any other areas
- We DO NOT have indoor restroom facilities. OUTHOUSE only.
- We kindly ask that no dogs, including service animals, be brought onto the premises or left in vehicles.
- Firearms are prohibited. If you have it, a critter can get ahold of it.
What to expect with your encounter!
- Toes up your nose!
- The potential to be used as a jungle gym or racetrack is VERY high.
- OR experience the VERY RARE, but EXTREME highlight, of an otter sleeping in your lap
- Learning ALL ABOUT Asian Small Clawed Otters from our very knowledgeable Otter Nanny
- Great videos and photos of your experience
- Engaging the otters while they are swimming in their pool. (YOU CANNOT ENTER THE POOL… But you can play with them with some toys.)
- Enjoying the great outdoors and our gazebo and really cool outdoor enclosure area
- This otter experience may leave you wet. Bring a towel or two.
Clothing requirements for your safety and that of the otters!
- Do not wear good clothes!
- Do not wear clothes or shoes WITH VELCRO
- Do not wear anything FRILLY
- No skirts or dresses (unless you have FULL LENGTH leggings)
- NO Shorty Shorts
- NO Jewelry, watches or bracelets
Terms and Conditions
- No reschedules or refunds inside of 72 hours notice. NO exceptions. It DOES NOT allow us sufficient time to rebook the encounter. (Can’t make it, we suggest gifting or selling to a friend. NOTE, we must be notified at least 24 hours in advance of any participant change for ANY reason)
- Reschedules must be done online and there is a $25 reschedule fee
- You MUST print and sign the waiver (CLICK HERE) and present it at check-in!!!
- Guests must arrive at their designated encounter time allotment. If you are late, you will lose that time with the otters.
- All Participants, including children, must follow all instructions given by the handlers. Each Participant must be able to understand English or have a paying, participating interpreter with them.
- Ottertopia LLC reserves the right to refuse any person to participate in the Otter Encounter for health, safety or other reasons. Participants may be asked to cease the encounter at any time for whatever reason at the handler’s discretion.
- All encounters are subject to change without notice. If the encounter is cancelled by Ottertopia, you will have the option to receive a full refund or reschedule to another encounter time or day.
- Please remember that all animals are capable of exercising their natural instincts. Do not under any circumstances attempt to roughly handle the animals. Contact with animals will be under the handler’s direction.
- No weapons or dogs allowed on the property.
- All interaction will be instigated by the animals. The behavior of the animals or the outcome/level of interaction is not guaranteed under any circumstances.
- Ottertopia LLC does not take any responsibility for any injuries, howsoever received whether it be as a result of the Encounter, travelling to, or being in, the habitat in which the animal is housed.
- Participants must be aware that the entirety of the encounter, from entrance to the facility, all interactions with staff and with the otters, up until exit, will be video and audio recorded.
- Participants must be aware that they may be filmed during experiences for media purposes.
- The Participant consents to the publication and/or use in any media whatsoever of their name, image, voice statements or otherwise, without payment of compensation.
- This experience is an “Otter Encounter” for the purposes of the Waiver, Indemnity and Release.
